If you haven’t seen it on MySpace, check out this entertaining video by Mark Baratelli asking patrons to house out-of-town performers. Beth Marshall will give you a Fringe Superpass if you do!

Orlando Fringe Seeks Billets for Festival: Give an artist a temporary home With the increase of national and international artists coming to our 2007 Fringe, we are faced with the need to have more hosts that offer up rooms, beds, couches, air mattresses etc… than ever before. This is a good problem for Fringe to have, but we need your help! So, if you have the space in your home and the desire to house an artist, or two, or three or more, please let me know asap. For your hospitality, Fringe offers a Superpass to the 2007 Festival and of course your billeting is tax deductible. This is a truly rewarding and fun experience. I have personally hosted for the past 7 years and am still in contact with all my billets. I do all the pairings for this as well and do a good job of matching host and artist to be a right fit. Thank you for your consideration of this and feel free to pass this along to anyone that might be a potential host.
Remember that weird ad PUSH Interactive showed off last year, with an intern standing on the street corner holding a sign? Apparently that is the genius plan by the Webby-award-winning group… to take pictures of people holding signs. On Monday February 12th down at Loch Haven Park, they’re having a photo shoot, and you’re to bring a sign, and it can say just about anything (as long as you’re cool with them printing it on a poster. Beth Marshall made a genius comment about this genius plan:
Use this opportunity to promote yourself and your Fringe show! [google-eyed-smiley-dude]
Hooray crowdsourcing? I’ll believe it’s a good idea when I see it for myself.
Speaking of crowd resources, Fringe is looking for people to “Billet” performers. Think Revolutionary War and the British government requires that you put up a soldier in your house as the army moves through your town. There are perks, however, and those perks are a free Superpass to the Fringe. Sounds pretty sweet, but I wonder what the obligation would entail… I guess if you lived close to town it would be easy. Still, with the number of national and international acts much higher this year, performers being able to find cheap (as in free) places to stay will be a task.
A similar post brings up quartering again, as well as asking for raffle items, office supplies and straight up money. I imagine it takes some dollars to put on a show like this and keep people focused on it almost 24/7/365. Help out if you can.
Wilson Loria, Jeremy Seghers and Brandon Haydon join Ryan Price to speak about To The Winners, a one-man show by Wilson, produced by Jeremy and with original music by Brandon. The conversation gets into the future of theatre and performing arts in general. The White Wolf Cafe was the home of this interview, and a fine lunch was had by all.
The file is just an MP3 - no iPod is required to listen to this show, although that is a popular way to enjoy podcasts. We have also made our feed available for easy linking to iTunes or other feed readers.

To The Winners is a play that chronicles a young man’s search for a long lost message he says was whispered to him on the day he was born. In order to achieve his aim, the character invites the audience to follow him in this wondrous adventure. Everyone in the audience then is inevitably exposed to this young man’s awakening of sexual and emotional awareness. Making use of mime, dance, accordion playing, background music and sound effects, the story unravels fantasy as well as historical perspective. Both character and audience travel from the claustrophobic closeness of a TV set to the magnitude of Neptune’s oceans and their orishas, from the solitude of a cradle to the company of thousands of roaring students revolting in the late 6o’s in the streets, from the space of a tiny living room to the imaginary depths of a fish bowl. At the end of the play, both the character and the audience finally arrive (from their shared journey) at the realization that the message was all along with them. The message is finally revealed and can hopefully be found in the heart of each single theatergoer who is sitting in the darkness of the theater.

DON’T MISS FAB FRINGE 2007!! UNLIKE NO OTHER YOU HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!
If you visit our web site over at BloggingFringe.com, you will see a handful of new pages. These are just a few of the features we plan on adding to the site to gear up for this year’s Fringe season.
Blogtracker: This page explains that we have set up a special Fringe News tracker at Megite.com/fringe. This is really cool. As we add more blogs to the list, the tracker will make connections between people’s posts and start to show where the conversation is happening. This page also gives you instructions on how to get your blog listed.
Video: This one is pretty self-explanatory in my eyes. As the various groups providing Fringe coverage post new videos to YouTube and other locations, this video page will try to keep up and give you a single location to go and watch them all without leaving the page. We will have a player for the official Fringe Videocast, Patroncast, as well as one of our own. If you want your video here you can use the next page…
Contact: Now it is super-simple to contact Blogging Fringe. Just enter your email address and a subject, no need to log in to your email. Of course, you can always do so and send your messages to info [at] bloggingfringe DOT com.
Shows: Again, no mystery here. Eventually I hope to list web sites, MySpace pages, YouTube profiles, and RSS Feeds for as many of the shows and theatre troupes possible. Again, you can make this page better for everyone via the contact form or email.
That’s all for now! Lots more stuff is coming too, like interviews, videos, podcasts, photos, and more blogging of course.
